Central Florida in January

Somewhere along the path of my life it became my habit to look for beautiful sights and views everywhere I go. Or maybe I was simply born that way because there are a lot of vivid images in my mind that I set my eyes on in my early childhood.

To me it seems like every place I visit has so much to offer and it makes me extra happy when I have my camera handy and I can snap some pictures. Not as a professional photographer – or an artist. Just for my own enjoyment.

These days, in January of 2012, Central Florida looks beautiful and the weather is perfect. Every day I get to admire pretty trees all over the place. I wish I knew what they were called. This year the birds haven’t helped themselves to their red berries yet. I’m guessing it hasn’t been cold enough.

Around here, deciduous trees drop their leaves some time in January. For the very first time I discovered some really nicely fall-colored leaves on a turkey oak outside my house. I had to take several pictures to document that!

Oh, and since Florida has so much coast, it’s practically impossible to ignore the boats – and their names… :)

I woke up to a beautiful rainbow

I woke up all excited that morning. I knew right away it was going to be a very special day. And as soon as the blinds, pushed aside, revealed the woody outdoors, the most beautiful rainbow caught my attention.
.
It was wide and its colors bright, gracefully arching above the tree tops. The most beautiful rainbow I’ve ever seen. It looked so close I could almost touch it from where I was standing.

Let no one who loves be unhappy, even love unreturned has its rainbow.
~ James M. Barrie

.
I can’t remember how long I was standing there in awe, smiling big and appreciating the clouds, the raindrops, the rainbow and the beauty of the moment which was filling my heart and then spilling in all directions.
.

The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

Walk on a rainbow trail; walk on a trail of song, and all about you will be beauty. There is a way out of every dark mist, over a rainbow trail.
~ Robert Motherwell

.
To me, personally, rainbow is not only a beautiful natural phenomena, not only an eye-catching color spectrum, produced by dispersion of light, and not only one of the most spectacular light shows on this planet.

To me, rainbow is an indicator of where I am, emotionally. It means I am looking at life and world from a positive perspective. It means that I am looking for more beauty and smiles-triggering things around me. And that’s where I prefer to be, most of the time. It’s a state of happiness and inner peace.

What a privilege to be here on the planet to contribute your unique donation to humankind. Each face in the rainbow of colors that populate our world is precious and special.
~ Morris Dees
