Another day and another beach

The day was gorgeous  – so I decided to spend a few hours on another beach – my favorite beach around here: Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Even though it was a week-day, the place was pretty crowded. Not too crowded for me to find a secluded spot in a shade of a palm tree, though.

With all the people and stuff they bring, some seagulls were very daring in their quest to find some extra good food to snack on…

My original intent was to go swimming and then do some work on the beach. So I brought my netbook, my Kindle and my camera. First I walked along the beach barefoot. To me, barefoot walking has always felt like a healing, relaxing therapy. And walking on the beach, in shallow waters of the sea, is always a treat.

After a long walk I went swimming. The temperature of the water was perfect. It made me feel like a mermaid, right at home just where I was so – I don’t think it’s necessary for me to brag about how much I enjoyed that. Also, that was the first time I swam in the ocean after swimming in the pool for a few weeks – and the difference in ease made me smile.

When I dried up a bit, I was ready to do some writing. I had a very clear idea what I was going to write about. The funny thing was that neither of my electronic devices would work. I couldn’t see the screen on my netbook. And the battery of my Kindle was dead.

So I went around with my camera and took lots of pictures of the place. I always enjoy the dunes and the grasses growing there. Another thing that amazes me about the images – like the one below – are all the different shades of white, blue and green. Bold, yet perfectly harmonic. Mother Nature knows best… 🙂

By the time I discovered some patches of Florida sunflowers, thriving happily in this salty environment, I forgot everything about my electronic devices being useless, and was cheerfully clicking away these images – putting together this blog post in my mind. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the experience!
