New blooms for cheerful morning

Those mornings that greet me with new blooms around my home – appear to be my most cheerful mornings. Starting day by looking for beautiful new flowers – proved to be one sure way for me to start a good day. This was one of those wonderful mornings.

Getting out of bed, I noticed a new leaf on my umbrella tree:

These beauties, featuring indescribably dazzling color with their blooms, greeted me right outside the front door:

And my beloved crape myrtle bush, in full bloom. It took a few years for it to grow from a tiny lifeless-looking stick into a plant that now makes it’s notable statement with its appearance, especially when in bloom:

Here’s one of the newest additions in the kingdom of flora in my yard – the second bud of the white flower carpet rose – whose flowers are also divinely scented – besides looking gorgeous.

White-eyed pink vinca has been my joy since I first planted these flowers – and has been thriving like no other annual plant around here. Can you see the morning dew on the close-up image of this bloom?

Once again, the pretty flower of brightly colored Cinco de Mayo rose with enticing scent. I never stopped blooming since early this spring when I first brought it home:

Beautiful canna:

Powderpuff mimosa is a groundcover plant, replacing grass in my front yard. I like it a lot because it’s practically maintenance-free, takes a lot of foot traffic, and every time after moving seems to grow bushier and thicker. Powderpuff’s blooms are special:

This is my first season with growing Pontederia Cordata or Pickerel Rush in one of my large planters. I have to admit, though, that this pond plant has been doing great. It seems to be more than happy with the given growing conditions – and the best of all is that it just keeps blooming… :)

And finally, the sunshine of my day and one of my all-time favorites, one cheerful, bright yellow sunflower. I know it’s a bit hard to see that from the photo, but this is one of the miniature species of sunflowers. I’m pretty sure it’s called teddy bear. This very fine photo makes a stunning desktop background on my 23-inch screen:
