Sometimes I drive to the local organic farm in Masaryktown – Sweetfields Farm – where they grow all kinds of organic vegetables and 6 acres of sunflowers every spring – for their annual traditional Sunflower Maze.
The place is serene and peaceful, a beautiful way to experience the real Florida countryside at its best.
I’ve been shopping for some of my veggies there since the owners started this farm and every time I get there I am amazed with all the progress and improvements they have accomplished during the last couple of years.
My heart simply sings with their success and the place looks clean and organized and receives more and more visitors all the time. Some like to spend their time off at the picnic tables, others pick their own veggies, there are kids and adults who at this time of the year enjoy visiting the farm animals, go on hayrides and walk around the sunflower maze, others (like me) just stop buy to purchase their weekly supply of freshly picked green beans, zucchini, yellow squash, cucumbers, other greens (depending on the season) – and eggs.
A soon as I came home from shopping at the organic farm yesterday, I made myself some yellow squash – and today I had a delicious, refreshing cucumber salad for lunch. I’ll share some more of my Daria-style recipes soon.
