Broken illusion

“Broken illusion” doesn’t sound like something that’s supposed to make me smile, does it… Well, it took a while and some de-constructing of thought (as Abraham would say) but it did make me smile in the end.

I received some emails yesterday. They managed to shatter my feeling of loyalty into too many pieces that it could ever be repaired/rebuilt. My first reaction was an array of negative emotions. I felt hurt.

At the same time, I knew in my heart that there has always been something good in everything and that I have been able to find that golden nugget every time, no matter how small and well disguised it might be. I’ve done it before, I can do it again!

Being aware of all the things that are out of my control (like changing people) – left me with dealing with the way I feel about the whole situation. I could hold on to the grudges or I could dismiss my negative thoughts.  I could keep thinking about what happened or I could go out and look for something that makes me happy. My flowers, for instance, have never sent me a mocking email… 🙂

So that’s what I did. I focused on the bright side of my life and soon I was smiling again. And as far as the broken illusion goes, that shattering was a great reminder that the only thing I owed loyalty to – at all times – was my heart. By being true to myself I benefit the world, the others and myself the most. No exceptions!
