By Daria / April 17, 2011 Share Tweet Pin Share Share Image via Wikipedia Our first annual Craft Show at the Suncoast SNPJ Lodge 778 hall in Spring Hill went well. Like every new venue, it was a good learning experience and the result was that we had more vendors than expected and less visitors than expected. Since the admission was free and we made most money from the vendors that payed for the tables, we managed to raise some money for the Club – and by talking to crafters and visitors learned about some new ways to advertise whenever we decide to organize another craft show. Ed Klasa and his neighbor Ivan spent hours around the SNPJ Lodge 778 building repairing the fence (which Jim claims will be painted this weekend), Trimming the palms, pulling dead branches out of the big trees at the entrance, and trimming the evergreens in front of the building. Looks nice! In the name of all members, many thanks to Ed and Ivan! Now, the following article was written for another publication at the end of March. It talks about how Bob Turcola and I envisioned the upcoming season at our Suncoast SNPJ Lodge 778 in Spring Hill. Before I reveal any details about the next season’s schedule, there are still some decisions to be made by all the members at the next board meeting on May 4. Until then, read about our plans for the season 2011/2012 at Spring Hill, Florida: For personal reasons Bob Turcola had to leave Florida earlier than previously planned so we had to meet in a hurry to make some plans for the Suncoast SNPJ Lodge 778 next season’s events. Our biggest unknown at the moment is the date of our 2012 Florida SNPJ Days. As I’m writing this, we’re still waiting for Jeanette Humphrey from Samsula to let us know about their newly chosen three-day weekend so we don’t interfere with each other’s biggest event. There are still plenty of choices to be made regarding the upcoming season and dates to be discussed, but there are also things that have already been decided on. We plan on starting the new season in November of 2012, before Thanksgiving. After that we’re in the process of booking two dances per month (December through March) and one Jam Session every month. In the upcoming season 2011/2012 most of our dances will happen on Saturday afternoons, from 2 to 6 pm, to eliminate the night time driving for most of our guests. There might be some more new things happening around the Spring Hill Hall, like a couple of new faces helping with bar-tending and a greeter at the entrance that will welcome everyone – most likely in a different way every time you walk in. The one thing our Lodge dances have always been famous for is good music. It looks like we’re keeping our regular best bands like Bob Kravos and the Boys in the Band, Walter Ostanek, Frank Moravcek, Alex Meixner, Bob Turcola and Virgil Baker. However, Bob and I were wandering if there was another good band or two that would be interested in taking a break from the northern cold spell to spend a few days in Florida and play at one of the dances in mostly sunny Spring Hill. If so, please talk to Bob Turcola or contact Daria via email SNPJ778 [at] gmail.com or phone (727) 753-9631. Some other ideas we’re holding a surprise for now but we will keep you posted regularly with everything that’s final and arranged.
