The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day. ~Edith Lovejoy Pierce . May the next 365 days turn out to be the best days of your life! . New Year’s resolutions For the last couple of weeks or so I’ve been staying away from everyone. It seems like every dozen of years or so I get a flu that really knocks me down – and I’d rather not cough into people’s faces. Besides, even after taking tons of vitamin C and some other potions, I still feel weak and working around my yard for a couple of hours a few days ago really wore me out. I felt exhausted afterwords and took a nap that turned into an all-afternoon sleep. However, while I was working out there, I had some interesting insights that still make me smile. Who’s my best friend? You know how they say that a dog is man’s best friend? Well, I have a little dogie that’s fiercely loyal and loving. But she is ready to abandon me at any time – for food… lol My flowers, on the other hand, they never go away, they always do their best – no matter how much I neglect them or how well I take care of them. They don’t even mind me coughing around them. So I decided that in my case, my flowers are my best friends… 😉 Resolutions to stick with, in new year and always This is also a time of the year when it’s popular to make new year’s resolutions, usually a long list of life-altering decisions that are fast forgotten and very much neglected – until another new year comes around. . . Horst, Daria and Almira . . One more time I decided to stick with with only one resolution I’ve been working on for a few years already. I want to be myself. True me, at all times. I’ve been through periods in my life when I tried very hard to fit in. In order to not stand out in any way, I either dumbed myself down, or pretended I was familiar with things I really knew nothing about. Neither method to look like a sheep worked well for me and neither made me feel good. So I quit after a while. Nowadays I am being more myself than ever before. Some people who know me for a long time noticed the difference and keep praising me for it. At one of the parties I attended before Christmas one of the ladies told me how she kept looking at my face because she was able to read my expressions and understand what was going on while Tony was making up Slovenian lyrics that weren’t exactly G rated… 😉 I’ve never been a fan of pretending and playing games and now I am proud to be just me and happy to know that it’s up to me how I feel. And although I love smiling and laughing and feel happy more than anything, it’s also a big part of my nature to be sad or in deep thought. I will for ever stay caring and I will always look for the best or something positive in all the people and all around me. That’s who I am! What’s your new year’s resolution? Till next time That’s all I had for you today. I think. I hope your 2013 turns out to be happy and wonderful all around, filled with Well-Being and people and things that make you smile. One of the things that keeps making me happy is a beautiful music. I especially appreciate tunes with heartfelt music and happy lyrics. A little while ago I discovered this video by two top Slovenian bands, Čuki and Modrijani. It’s a love story that happened on New Year’s Eve in one of the mountain huts: Daj mi poljub (Give Me a Kiss). I hope you like it as much as I do… 🙂 Till the next time, be joyful and have fun!
