Life goes on…

And the life goes on, even when one year ends and another one begins, it never stops, for anyone or anything, no matter how many people come into one’s life, and how many depart – in one way or another.

I like the continuum of the life’s never ending spiral. It means nothing is ever final or unchangeable, it means there’s always a sun light somewhere on the horizon, even when it’s dark, even when the sky is cloudy…

Life goes on, even in winter

There are countless people in my heart I’m thinking about on this last day of 2013. You touched my life in one positive way or another and there will always be a smile in my heart to honor a beautiful memory of you. Thank you for being you!

“Year’s end is neither an end
nor a beginning
but a going on,
with all the wisdom
that experience can instill in us.”

And the life goes on…

The last few weeks of my life

Long time, no see… but the life goes on and here I am again – with some news of more personal nature this time.

The last few weeks I’ve been spending all of my time with people who mean the most to me, or affected my life most profoundly, in one way or another. I’ve been through the most exciting and most stressful moments, all the while there was always someone around who stood by me, comforted me, or simply took care of things without me even asking. There was a lot of partying and new friendships arose from all the gatherings. It feels good to know that I played a role in bringing these wonderful people together.

Daria and Nejka

I could go on and on but since I have other things to tell you, I’ll make a long story short by sharing with you that I’ve never appreciated the value of love and friendship more than I do today. It’s an exhilarating experience when people connect heart-to-heart. I hope you all know what I’m talking about. I’m sending out some prayers for all of you to have at least one person in your life – who makes your heart sing…

A beautiful waltz for you

Those of you who were in Spring Hill on April 28, might recognize this heartwarming melody, and if you weren’t – you will enjoy it just the same!

Nežka

The very first time I walked into Slovenian-American Club on County Line Road in Spring Hill in 2007, I was introduced to Nežka. She was the first Slovenian person I’ve met in this country and the first one who actually spoke Slovenian language. We’ve been friends ever since.

In her heart, Nežka is one of the most beautiful human beings I’ve met in my life and everyone who’s ever been to a dance at our Club, knows her. I used to call her The Bar Queen because she was always smiling while at the same time she was working really hard – at the Club and at home.

Those of you who know Nežka closer also know that she was very devoted to her husband, Jim. His health started failing years ago and recently he’s been in and out of the hospitals and rehab places constantly. After having a rather good day at home yesterday, he went to sleep last night and didn’t wake up this morning.

You’re more than welcome to leave your condolences for Nežka in the comments below and if you want to send her a card, email me for her mailing address.

Ends and new beginnings

It used to be very difficult for me to accept someone’s transition into another dimension, even when I didn’t know them all that well. One day I realized that I have a choice of spending the rest of my life sad and grieving, or that I can just as easily start looking on the bright side of things and smile more often.

I do enjoy smiling and feeling happy a lot more than feeling sad, but it took some serious effort at first. These days, when I get news of someone’s departure or serious illness, my first reaction is always a thought of how important it is to treasure all nice things and live to the fullest – every moment of every day.

May the sunshine always follow you, no matter what you do, and everywhere you go!

From the bottom of my heart,

Daria,

I think a lot of us can relate to what you just posted. As we move through our time here we learn to appreciate others even when in the past we did not. Always hug someone like it is the last time you will be able to do that.

Thank you
Chris

PS, that song was beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I do remember this song! I have such good memories… I am so sad for Nezka. We met her at the wedding. We knew nothing about her ailing husband. She was constantly smiling and I really enjoyed her.

Even though we are sad for her, we can also realize that the person has really never left us. Their spirit is forever, and they are only loaned to us for a short time on this earth. Sometimes we think that time is way tooo short. But the universe has plans for all of us.

We are thinking of her in this difficult time.

Nežka, I am really sorry for your loss. Those aren’t words that will ease pain, but maybe the knowledge, the hope, the the belief that the next life is pure and joyful will help us in the process of healing. I wish you peace.
