Little gift that means a lot

I picked my son from school and his first words were, “I have something for you!”

“What is it?”

“I’ll give it to you at home.”

Then I was patient and didn’t ask any more questions until I received this beautiful, handmade ceramic mug that my son made of clay in his art class. It was neatly painted and glazed and finally professionally fired by Erik’s art teacher who is also a very creative artist and a great mentor.

Now I am a proud owner of this very special little gift, displayed on my desk where I can see it all the time.

As I was typing this, I remembered that I have a few other things my son made in his art classes out of clay: a little car and candle holder – and even a sandwich.

Artistic creativity has always been a big part of my son’s life. When he was little, he wanted to become a painter. Now that he is getting more and more science and engineering oriented – I’m glad he still enjoys drawing and modeling in clay in his art class, hoping he keeps this passion for ever.
