The blooming season is rather long in Central Florida so it was time for me to discard some of the worn-out annuals – and replace them with a few others, that won’t mind the heat and humidity of the hottest time of the year throughout the month of August.

And since my pink vinca plants look wonderful – no matter how much it rains – or how hot it gets, I decided to get more of those – but in some new colors. I picked the red, hot pink and white. Now I’m curious to see how well these new colors will hold in the blazing sun conditions.

The white ones should be fine but the dark red and hot pink blooms might fade. I hope not. And I’ll do my best to keep them as happy as possible.

Anyway, I came home, planted all the new vinca flowers and watered them. Then I pruned some spent flowers on my other plants and just as I was almost done, the dark clouds covered the sky, the wind started blowing and two minutes later it was raining.

We got some nice, steady rain – at the perfect time to keep my newly planted flowers looking fresh and to help them adjust to their new home faster. Thank you so much cooperative weather – to help me with my yard work!
