Memories of 2011 Slovenefest XXX

After a few years, when people have been continually telling me what a great event the Slovenefest is – I finally attended all three days of 2011 Slovenefest XXX. I can’t tell you how good the attendance was. This was my first time there and I have nothing to compare to. I certainly can say, though, that the Borough of SNPJ in Enon Valley was packed on Saturday, July 9.

I have to admit I had a really good time. I met so many people I know from Florida and many more – from around the country. One of them, Steven from California, was kind enough to email me the photos published in this post – and a few more.

With so many choices ob bands performing at all times – the music was good non-stop. However, I am guilty of spending most of my time on Saturday and Sunday at the International Pavilion – with Ansambel Veseli Begunjčani from Gorenjska region in Slovenia – and Ansambel Dvojčki from Cleveland.

I also noticed that the Alpine Room was the most popular place – if not for the music and whatever band was playing there – then for the air conditioning. It was hot and humid, especially on Sunday.

When I left Florida a few weeks before that, I thought I was leaving the heat and humidity behind. During the next few weeks in PA and OH I’ve learned on my own (sweaty) skin – that places up north can get even more hot and humid than the Sunshine State. Now I know… 😉
