New dance and new band

Some things are special. When it comes to music and bands, from my point of view, there’s nothing better than when masters of the trade join their talents and passion, and make music together.

That’s how the best duets and other music performances were inspired and created, broadcasting the kind of energy that has the power to put any audience on fire. Too bad (if) you weren’t here with us when that happened at the Spring Hill hall this past Saturday.

When Alex Meixner joins Bob Kravos…

There are some wonderful musicians out there who are great friends and supporters of the Slovenian-American club in Spring Hill. We were beyond description fortunate to have three of them at our hall on Saturday, March 10: Bob Kravos, Bob Turcola and Alex Meixner.

We’ve had our Spring Festival scheduled for almost a year and when booking bands, it’s quite impossible to avoid big events, happening at other places around Florida. And it’s just so happened that Alex Meixner was booked for this same Saturday at a nearby Polish Club. However, he moved his dance to an earlier time so it didn’t interfere with our weekend event.

And like this wasn’t a favor big enough, after playing for four hours, he packed his equipment and drove an hour to Spring Hill with another one of his band members, Hank Guzevich, also a brilliant musician, a leader of the Polka Family.

After having dinner, Alex and Hank joined Bob Kravos, Bob Turcola, Jack Tankovich and Kurt Harfmann on the stage and all of them together literally put our audience on fire. It was an unforgettable experience and I don’t think music can get any better…

Beautiful friendships and appreciation

Yesterday was an amazing day. I received several messages and phone calls that brought tears of joy to my eyes.

In one of the online communities someone added my name to the featured list of people with good heart, along with three of my internet creations.

A long time, dear friend of mine from California, whom I never met in person, sent me an email that she was flying in for a week in April, to help me with something and, as she teasingly put it,
“I want to see the other mermaids (other than you)! :)”

Then I received a phone call from one of our attendees, offering support and ideas for continuation of our venue by people from around the country.

I received an email that very much touched my heart:

Hi Daria, Just wanted to thank you for all the help you gave mom and dad this weekend. They had some problems finding the place and they said that you were very helpful. The older they become the more planning they have to do, but they do not see that. Mom just wants to go and dad with his white brace just needs extra time to get himself together. They at least these past couple of weeks have gotten out, they went to Samsula and now this past weekend, it makes them happy. Dad turned 79 on Sunday, not sure what else is on their agenda but look forward to your next newsletter to see what is happening.
Take care,

And this one:

You know I will do anything I can to help keep y’all rolling… We really need to figure out how to get the people back to the events at Spring Hill.

I appreciate all of the support and promotion you give to me too…

There was more, but the point is, I feel that there’s nothing more powerful in life than people who come together – thinking, speaking and acting from their hearts! This might sound a bit corny, but I just don’t know how else to tell you how much love and appreciation I feel for all of you who participated in any way:

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! 🙂

In conclusion

Life is So precious and I feel infinitely blessed that during the past two weekends I had a chance to spend some time with many of the brilliant and fun people I treasure so much. I’ve had the time of my life and I hope, so did all of You.

I gave many (free) hugs away and, no, I didn’t run out of them, not at all! At least four people will know what this is all about because a little while ago they were teasing me on the topic and I was standing there, blushing, and didn’t know what to say… lol

Sending you all hugs and smiles, from the bottom of my heart,

Hi Daria–You did a wonderful job coordinating the 3 day weekend. I haven’t been so happy in a long time. The high point of enjoyment was hearing Alex Meixner playing the accordian. He is outstanding as all the members who played in the band. To all the Sun Coast workers, you did a marvelous job. Keep up the good work and keep Slovene polka music alive. I have been singing all the music I heard the past few days. Thanks for the wonderful time.

HI Daria
To bad I live far away and can not participate personally but I enjoy your blogs very much. You were fituring Alex Meixner in your last showing. He looks like Mig Jager . You never know . We live in a crazy world. Maybe we nead a guy like this to take a slovenian polka to the next level or eaven the white house where Mig had an appearance recently, a worm welcome and eaven standing ovation from our leaders.
Thanks for evrithing
