One more dance and Spring, finally!

Up until last night, I was sure that the last dance of the season at our Club is still more than a week away. Then someone enlightened me that March 25 is this Sunday. It was a rough landing on a solid ground, making me realize that I still have to send out the newsletter… All of a sudden I felt like I was in big trouble since that’s something I usually spend two days on. But since panicking won’t do me any good, I’ll just make it shorter this time.

Calming down

I know I can’t do anything really good unless I feel relaxed and happy and to me, the easiest way to start smiling is to look for some pretty things in nature. Lately, I’ve been doing that a lot and here’s a page I put together a few days ago – about my favorite things in spring.

It’s a photo story, mostly, and the majority of these flowers I don’t get to see around here. But even looking at the pictures takes me right back to my childhood in Slovenia – and many beautiful memories of my favorite season.

Click on the picture below, it will open a new window for you, and take you to a beautiful spring page of mine. You won’t regret it, I promise! 🙂

My Favorite Things About Spring

Good music is relaxing, too!

While polka makes me wanna dance, a nice waltz is relaxing and calming so here are two of my favorite Slovenian waltzes – for those of you who could also use some quiet, happy time.

The first video is by Ansambel Petra Finka (Peter Fink Ensemble), titled Morska pravljica (Sea Fairy Tale) – about a beautiful summer romance on the beach – or a lady, remembering it.

The second one was originally written by Slavko Avsenik, but the version I like the most is this one, performed by Zlati muzikanti (Golden Musicians) and a pop singer, Irena Vrčkovnik.

One more dance

For the last few weeks my life has been happening so fast that I can’t believe the dancing season at our Slovenian-American Club is almost over. Last night some people from the German Club made me promise to them that I’d be coming to their dances all summer long, but before the summer starts, I still have quite a few events to attend this spring.

One of the first ones is the last dance of the season at the Suncoast Dance and Party Center in Spring Hill.

VIRGIL BAKER & The Just 4 Fun Band will be entertaining our guests from 5 to 9 PM this Sunday, March 25.

Everyone is welcome, Virgil knows how to make an event like this fun, so I hope to see you on Sunday.

I do have a request regarding this Sunday, though. Due to a mix-up with scheduling, we will only have two hours for transferring the hall from an Orchid Show place into a dance hall. If you have a few minutes to spare, please come in early and help us set up the tables.

Sending you some beautiful spring

Although the first spring blooms around here are not quite the same as what traditional spring looks like in northern hemisphere, I still feel very excited about all the new beginnings I keep finding out in the yard.

All four of my rose bushes are so eager to bloom like they’ve never bloomed before and have more buds than I can count. Kind of reminds me of someone I know… lol. So I’ve been happy to make my first flower arrangement this season for the hostess of the dinner I’ve been invited to.

Then I made one for myself, too, with roses and rosemary herb that also grows all around my house. Here’s the photo of it, just for you!

With that I’m sending you some soul-warming spring sunshine and beautiful starry nights. Spend them with people you love and appreciate, people who are happy and fun to be around.

Till next time,
From my heart,

Like you say Daria . You feel like climing up the wall and then jump down. That is a good idea . I will try it today and if you dont hear from me then you knw I am dead ha ha ha . I had a few good gigs playing in West Palm beach on the Island where money is king. Also an interesting gig yesterday in the Yacht and Kricket clug in Boca Raton. Those people actually take me very seriously . Thanks for the letter .

Don’t do anything crazy, Oscar, I’d prefer you to keep playing and entertaining people – than jumping from the walls and hurting yourself… lol
Besides, the walls I was talking about are no more than 2 to 3 feet tall and there are plenty of those around my area – like sea walls and stuff. I really have no intention to jump off the skyscraper with an umbrella…

Glad to hear you’re having fun! Keep in touch and keep making good music! 🙂

Lepe spomladanske dni ti zelim! 🙂

We had a great time at the dance on March 25. I enjoyed playing a few numbers with the buttonbox players and Virgil Baker and his band. I hope all enjoyed the music as well.

With best wishes,
Frank
