Lygodesmia aphyla - Rose-Rush

This is one of the special flowers not every gardener would appreciate.

Description:

Wiry stems are dark green, pretty tough and mostly leafless. They grow 2' tall or even taller. From a distance or in the background of wildflower garden the blooms look like they are floating in the air, above everything else - quite a breathtaking sight!

Propagation:

Rose-Rush will readily grow from fresh seeds, but they are rarely available in the nurseries. Prefers well drained, deep sandy soil in full sun. Zones 8 - 10.

Landscape uses:

  • not very suitable for growing in pots
  • best for wildflower garden
