In my world the new year 2012 started with some fun events, inspiring ideas, uplifting conversations and many errands accomplished. For the first time in the last ten weeks or so I managed to catch up on my emails and some other things I was leaving behind.
I didn’t make any new year’s resolutions this time. Instead, I’ll just focus on things I love to do, especially writing. When the time feels right I’ll add another place or two to the list of media where I publish my articles.
And while my Cleveland friends are snowed in, I am enjoying some of the most beautiful blooms around the house. Or – at least I did until today – because the weather was absolutely perfect around here for the last three months.
The latest weather forecast, however, says we’re supposed to get the first freezing temperature of the year tonight. I moved all of my large pots with blooming plants next to the walls of the house and I’m hoping that they won’t freeze.
It really would be a shame to lose all these beautiful blooms…
I am hoping that my pink bougainvillea is not in a real danger but I’ve never had one before so I can’t be completely sure.
Tomorrow morning I will have answers to some of my questions regarding the hardiness of my plants – and I’ll be able to add some new blooming species to the list of plants that do well – or don’t do well – in this part of Central Florida.
Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.

May everyone’s new year 2012 be fun and fulfilling, filled with sweet-scented blooms in bright colors!
