So long winter, hello new season
After the long, cold winter, abundant with snow – spring has finally arrived. At least to our calendars.
The beginning of spring also means the season of dances at Slovenian American Club in Spring Hill is coming to an end. But more about that toward the end of this newsletter.
Stroll around the Florida park
For a couple of days this week, I’ve been playing with some new photo and video editing programs. It was like a short spring break for me. The results of my playtime are two videos I produced while learning how to use new software. I uploaded both to Youtube and some of you already saw one of them.
But if you’re eager for some spring atmosphere, if you like flowers and wildlife, you’re more than welcome to take a virtual walk with me by clicking on one (or both!) videos below:
Both links above will open a new window.
A taste of the old country
Someone sent me a link to the most beautiful video I’ve ever come across – about a tiny village in Slovenia, called Skorno pri Šoštanju. In high school I had a school mate who lived there. Thinking about that makes me feel so ignorant – because I never knew what an idyllic place this was – until now. And pretty close to where I was born, too!
I’m sharing this short film with you because it truly captures the spirit of Slovenians and traditional way of life in the old country. It’s about people and their customs, traditions and their way of life. Highly recommended! 🙂
This newsletter just wouldn’t be the same without at least one polka or waltz video. That’s just the way I feel and you’re lucky to have a choice and can easily skip the parts of my writing that you don’t care for… 😉
Today’s music video is a heartwarming waltz with beautiful melody, singing and lyrics. I listen to it over and over again: Z njo (With Her) by Ansambel Spev (“Song” or “Tune” Ensemble). Enjoy!

Till next time
In case you come back to this website some time soon again, you might not be sure you’re at the right place. I’ve been growing this online space since 2010 and right now it feels like the perfect time for some virtual spring cleaning. I plan on improving the look and performance of Daria’s World and hope to reach even more happy people as a result.
And to those of you, who have been reading my posts for some time and keep asking me for more, I hope I can keep making your days brighter by sharing my happy thoughts and adventures. As always, your feedback (comments below) are greatly appreciated!
Stay joyful and keep having fun,
all of you are always in my heart,
